The quest begins with Naoe riding with her father, Nagato. Follow him northeast along a straight path.


  • To move, use the controller's left thumbstick or the keyboard's WASD keys.


  • To gallop, press the thumbstick (controller) or the Shift key on the keyboard.


  • Keep a watch on the blue diamond quest sign above Nagato to find his location.


Cross two wooden bridges to reach Aekuni Shrine Town, which is currently engulfed in flames. Naoe's horse is shot, forcing her to fight.

This section introduces the fighting mechanics.


Dodging unstoppable attacks


  • Enemy weapons turn red before an Unstoppable Attack.

  • To avoid taking heavy damage, dodge these types of attacks.


Dodge Buttons:


  • Xbox: B.

  • PlayStation: Circle.

  • Keyboard: Alt.


Parrying and Vulnerable States


  • White Flash: Attacks can be parried, leaving the enemy vulnerable.


  • Blue Flash: This indicates a Flurry Attack that requires many parries.

After eliminating your first enemies, proceed to the town plaza, where you will help civilians in fight. The game has targeting mechanics:

Once the enemies have been eliminated, a cutscene shows Momochi Sandayu, a fellow shinobi. Nagato assigns Naoe a task to acquire a mystery box from the Mihata Kofun.



How to Use Stealth to Assassinate Enemies


Following the cutscene, Naoe is alone and must move quietly.


Tagging enemies


  • To observe and mark enemies, hold LT (Xbox), L2 (PlayStation), or the Right Mouse Button (PC).

  • Tagged enemies have a white chevron above their heads, even through walls.


Stealth Kill


Sneak up and kill foes by pressing

  • Xbox: RB.

  • PlayStation: R1.

  • Keyboard: F.


Avoid Detection


The alert meter above Naoe indicates opponent awareness.


  • White: suspicious.

  • Yellow: Investigating.

  • Red: Fully alerted (the enemy calls for reinforcements).


Hide in the bushes to avoid detection.


Crouch using:

  • Xbox: X

  • PlayStation: square.

  • Keyboard: C.


Use the whistle (D-Pad Down / G key) to attract enemies.


Follow the waypoint and use stealth to eliminate opponents along the way. Finally, reach the river and cross it, then get the hill to the Mihata Kofun.

Once at the kofun, go down the stairs to a closed door with an Assassin's Creed symbols.


To unlock the door using the Hidden Blade, press:

  • Xbox: Y.

  • PlayStation: Triangle.

  • Keyboard: E.


Enter the tomb and get the box, leading in a cutscene that concludes the mission. The next important quest is The Onryo Samurai.
