According to Take-Two Interactive's investor presentation, Rockstar Games' highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 will still be released in the fall of 2025. During its third-quarter financial earnings conference for fiscal year 2025, the publisher confirmed its commitment to the planned release window.
While there is still believe about GTA 6's exact release date and the possibility of a second trailer, Take-Two has not yet announced a more clear timeframe. However, CEO Strauss Zelnick informed investors that the company is still confident in its rollout schedule.
Borderlands 4 and Other Major Titles Are Also on the Way
Along with GTA 6, Take-Two is preparing for a busy release schedule in 2025. Borderlands 4 is still scheduled for release in 2025, though an exact date has yet to be announced. Given the high level of expectation for GTA 6, the publisher is strategically spacing out its big releases to avoid internal competition.
Take-Two also announced additional forthcoming titles, including as Civilization 7, which will be released on February 11, and Mafia: The Old Country in Summer 2025. With these key brands lined up, Take-Two expects one of its most successful years yet.
Other Publishers Adjusting Their Schedules Around GTA 6
According to sources, competing publishers are becoming wary about committing to their own release dates for Fall 2025. According to industry insiders, many companies are waiting to see if GTA 6 will be released on time or if it will be delayed until 2026. Other developers and publishers hope to avoid releasing their games too close to Rockstar's major release, which is likely to dominate sales and player engagement when it arrives.
Take-Two is using a similar approach. Zelnick revealed that Borderlands 4 will not be released together with GTA 6, allowing both titles to do well in the market. "All will become clear," he said, indicating that more specific release dates for Borderlands 4 and other games would be revealed in the future.
Take-Two is Set for an Unprecedented Year
Zelnick expressed the hope for Take-Two's future list, describing it as "the most extraordinarily exciting release schedule" the company has ever had. Beyond GTA 6, Borderlands 4, and Mafia: The Old Country, Take-Two is working on a number of other projects, including annualized sports titles, live service games, and new releases from Zynga and other studios.
“We have an incredibly diverse and strong slate of games coming,” Zelnick said. “With our expectations for fiscal years 2026 and 2027, we anticipate record-setting growth and engagement.”
As the gaming industry eagerly awaits Rockstar's next big blockbuster, all eyes are on GTA 6 and if it can achieve its Fall 2025 release date. Until then, speculation will keep going, but Take-Two's release schedule remains unchanged.
