Ubisoft just issued an update on the status of the highly anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. Despite earlier statements suggesting that no information would be released until the next year, the studio provided a favourable update this week.
The dedicated Ubisoft Montreal team is presently remaking this legendary story. Ubisoft confirmed their happiness with the project in an official statement, stating that it has successfully completed a crucial internal milestone, demonstrating constant development.
The announcement follows the game's original reveal in September 2020, when it was revealed that it had taken two and a half years to build at Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. Originally scheduled for January 2021, the remake was delayed due to a weak reaction to its first trailer. As a result, development duties were transferred to Ubisoft Montreal, the studio responsible for the original Sands of Time from 2003.
"In terms of the development stage, we’re in conception right now," shared producer Jean-Francois Naud in May. "Since we took over the project, we’ve been looking at feedback from the community and finding our own way of delivering the game."
Recognising the difficulties and obstacles, Ubisoft highlighted their dedication to the project's success. They are currently in the early stages of development, focusing on team expansion, setting goals, producing prototypes, testing elements, and incorporating community feedback.
While Ubisoft assured fans that the game is still in development and that details may not be published this year, they stated a desire to share more information in the future. The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will be available on PC and consoles in January 2024. Players can look forward to a new and refreshed viewpoint on this classic story, shaped by the dedication and passion of the Ubisoft Montreal team.
