Ubisoft stunned fans by revealing the first extensive gameplay footage from the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows. The 13-minute gameplay follows the characters, Yasuke and Naoe, as they travel through the picturesque countryside and visit the old city of Fukuchiyama.



The footage provides an in-depth look at a variety of gameplay components, including violent fighting sequences, fascinating plot cutscenes, stealth mechanics, and an exciting escape scene. It also offers a look of the game's enormous open world, highlighting the rich and complex setting that players can expect.


Assassin's Creed Shadows Release and Setting


Assassin's Creed Shadows is set to release on November 15, 2024. Set in 16th-century Japan, the game exposes players to a key period highlighted by the country's difficult route to unity. Ubisoft characterises this period as marked by serious trouble spurred by rising coalitions and the entry of corrupt foreign forces.


Players will follow the connected stories of Naoe, an accomplished shinobi Assassin from Iga Province, and Yasuke, a famous samurai. Ubisoft promises a deep, character-driven plot in which players will encounter significant historical personalities and impact the fates of both protagonists as they navigate an important turning point in Japanese history.

Ubisoft highlights that each character in Assassin's Creed Shadows provides a distinct gameplay experience.

"Players can master two complementary playstyles with Naoe and Yasuke, each featuring distinct progression paths, skills, weapon options, and stats, Whether they prefer Naoe’s refined stealth mechanics or Yasuke’s formidable combat prowess, players will have diverse approaches to completing objectives."

As Naoe, players will engage in complex infiltration techniques, using light, noise, shadows, and surrounding changes to avoid detection. This stealth-focused gameplay differs with Yasuke's approach, which allows players to attack bigger groups of enemies with deadly accuracy, showcasing his outstanding combat skills.
